Summary
“Did I do something wrong?” Mike questions, mouth twisted in a frown, eyes less wide than they were a few moments ago, sleepiness gone. His arms stay at his sides, although his fingers fiddle with his sleeves. “What did I do wrong?”
Will frowns back. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Mike doesn’t look like he believes him. Will doesn’t blame him. “Then why do you keep leaving?”
The world ends, and then some. Mike and Will find each other again, amidst the debris and distance.

Summary
Spending the summer in Hawkins had been wonderful - they’d moved back in the middle of June, integrating into their new home and re-familiarizing themselves with the town. Their friends had, of course, welcomed them with open arms, and the rest of the summer had been spent like it always had - hanging out around town, taking over Steve’s pool and abusing his summer job at the video store, sleepovers in Mike’s basement and afternoons at the arcade.
It had been wonderful, yet also overwhelming.
One thing he hadn’t missed in California, was the agony of being close to Mike.
The kicker of that, of course, is that there had been the agony of being away from Mike.
Will’s conclusion is that he’s just meant to suffer.

Will tried to not think about Mike's aging face with cheekbones starting to show through, framing his full lips. He tried not to recall every feature of his friend's face but even in the dim light, he could see it all. Even though Will hated it, he couldn't help but let a small grin through.

So raw, so much humanity. How lovely. Super clean depiction of Byler and a plausible finger gripping science fiction plot-line in Season 5.
I love him. He whispers, from the place that goes deeper than words. I love him.
This is the truest thing he knows, that he will ever know. He pours out all his doubt and grief and fear, his need to protect the boy he has loved for his whole life, since before he knew what love was. The boy that made being wrong inside feel beautiful as well as damned. The boy he is ready to die for, to give himself over to Vecna forever, just to make him safe.
He is everything to me.

Summary
Mike had always been beautiful to Will, but now the sight of him made Will physically ache, and his heart feel like it would burst with love. Over the last year Mike’s features had become sharper, more pronounced. The freckles which had always spattered his skin had become more prominent under the California sun and now covered his entire face, continuing down his neck.
Set during the road trip in season 4, exploring Will and Mike's turbulent and confusing relationship in the heat of the scorching desert sun.

“ You shouldn’t shiver from touching your friend’s hair. Was he somehow taking advantage of Mike while he was sleeping? The hair brushing was innocent enough, but Will felt like he somehow soiled it with his thoughts. He himself was very much aware about how he felt for his friend, but what would Mike do if he knew what he thought? Will quickly drew his hand away and heard Mike sigh softly.
