But now Gai is falling for Sukea (and not Kakashi), and Kakashi doesn't know what to do. What constitutes as lying, really, if he doesn't let it get far enough along that it becomes awkward?

Summary
EMCOM missions were the worst, in his opinion. Limited radio contact, no one to talk to but yourself, and even then it wasn’t advised that you do much talking at all. They were especially draining when you flew them solo, without another jet to interact with in any way. Just yourself and the dark abyss of the night sky for hours on end.
Maverick was getting pretty sick of them, having pulled almost exclusively EMCON missions or solo night patrols for the last two months. He was starting to believe he’d forgotten how to even talk to another human being. It had been so long since he’d interacted with someone in anything other than procedural manners.

“Yeah, sensei, do we pass?” Sasuke dangled the bells from the tip of his finger, a smug grin on his face. He was a bastard, Kakashi decided.
Actually, all of them were. Little shit bastards. Feral goblins. Hellspawn. If it wasn’t Sakura literally changing the landscape of the field underneath Kakashi’s feet, it was Sasuke swinging a sword crackling with lightning, both of them subtly herding him towards Naruto’s hundred shadow-clones, all of which were so fast he could barely track them even with the sharingan.
Kakashi was starting to think his team definitely didn’t have the same problems as the others.

An angry verbal exchange between John Carter and Dale Edson over John's new intern, Lucy Knight, takes a violent turn. They are in the morgue. There is a walk-in freezer. Dale locks Carter inside and leaves him there.
It was only supposed to be for a few minutes. The pathologist was supposed to come right back. He was supposed to let John out.
That's not what happens.
OR: Carter nearly dies from hypothermia.
