Just for tonight — perhaps only for this single moment — Prowl would allow himself the weakness that was their evolution; of the innate need to hold and be held by another.
After Prowl’s unintended slight towards Jazz, he faces Ratchet’s routine diagnostic appointment and dares to try and confide in the one he battles daily. As expected, it ends abysmally, and his processor continues to rage a war on itself as it teaches him what yearning means for the first time in his life.

Summary
The whisper was laced with the volatile vulnerability that was his real voice. Prowl had only been granted audience to it in the most daring of late nights with Jazz — and an early alarm that enabled their cycle of avoidance — with no trace of Jazz’s escape into the night come the chronometer’s shriek.
Jazz lets Prowl find out what his damaged optics look like. Purely because he needs the other to be aware of possible vulnerability in the field, and why he has a visor in the first place. Not because he’s losing the battle of keeping those impenetrable walls up.
