    Summary

After a fight, Alhaitham has a nightmare where he loses Kaveh entirely. Waking brings no relief - only a fear he can't shake, pushing him toward Kaveh's door while praying he hasn't already gone too far.

Instantly withdrawn, Kaveh rose to his feet, silently gathered his blueprints, and turned his back. Dragging a hand over his face, Alhaitham reached for the gentler words he should’ve used in the first place to try and undo the damage - but Kaveh cut him off with a quiet 'leave me alone' and retreated into his bedroom without a backward glance.

It hadn’t even been an insult, but it was somehow all the more piercing for its bare simplicity. In one solitary sentence, Alhaitham heard the echo of every fear he carried about himself - incapable of the softness required to hold something as bright as Kaveh’s trust without breaking it into pieces.

    Summary

“What I would like to know is, when did you start to care about others, about the people of Sumeru?”

They meet face to face, and Kaveh now sees that his roommate has dark rings under his eyes, as well as a general weariness in his stance. He knows that the question might be cruel, and might be too much for this current moment.

The air is heavy with words they both didn’t say, whether they chose not to or were too afraid to.

The sages have been overthrown, and Kaveh is back in Sumeru City.

    Summary

In Sumeru, two men who always said "we're not friends" are once again sharing the same roof. After years apart due to the breakdown of a joint project, which also led to the end of their friendship, Kaveh returns—tired, broken, and needing a place to think. Alhaitham offers his home. Not out of nostalgia or guilt—but because it makes sense.

In their daily lives together, they both discover that what they believed they had lost is still there: in their habits, their silences, their unintentional kindnesses. And that sometimes, before recognizing the feeling, it's necessary to learn to exist together again.

“Could you help me put it on?”

Taking the necklace from Kaveh with a lingering brush of their fingers, he stepped close and suddenly, Kaveh was realizing why asking for Alhaitham's help was a very, very bad idea.

The air turned heavy as Alhaitham laid the necklace around his neck, making sure that the pendant rested on the warmed skin right above his heart.

Then, without breaking eye contact, he leaned down and pressed a reverent kiss on Kaveh's nape—so featherlight that Kaveh wondered if he was imagining things—just above the clasp of the necklace.

in which Kaveh and Alhaitham are in love with each other but don’t know it yet.

    Summary

When Kaveh accidentally uncovers Alhaitham’s private logbook, he discovers that the man he’s lived with (and argued with) for years has been quietly observing him—his habits, his ideals, even his flaws. What unsettles Kaveh most is not the sharp critiques but the quiet admiration threaded between the lines. Struggling between guilt, curiosity, and pride, Kaveh spirals into a battle with himself: does he confront Alhaitham, or keep pretending ignorance? Their already fragile truce as roommates fractures into arguments sharp enough to cut, until one slip of the tongue exposes everything. In the silence that follows, Kaveh must face the truth he’s both feared and longed for—that Alhaitham has always seen him more clearly than anyone else.
