“You deserved better,” Janeway says. She doesn’t want it to sound bitter, but it does.
Seven makes as if to reply, then shakes her head impatiently. “It does not matter anymore, Kathryn. It doesn’t,” she insists, raising a hand as Janeway starts to object. “I did not ask for this evening with you to rehash the past or complain about a time when you were not ready to be with me—for whatever reason.” She glares at Janeway, challenging her to interrupt, which she doesn’t. “I asked you to meet me to find out if you are ready now.”

Seven gripped the sides of the console. Surely the Captain must realize that I have committed a crime? Why would she not provide the appropriate punishment? Seven's Borg hand tightened on the console so hard her fingers began to dig into the metal. It is obvious - the Captain is trying to protect me. That is why the Captain will not discuss Unusus IV with me - if she does so she will be forced to punish me. I cannot allow her to do this. If I have committed a crime, I deserve to be punished.

Summary
After Voyager's triumphant return, Captain Janeway must deal with the fallout from her decisions in the Delta Quadrant while beginning Starfleet-mandated therapy sessions with Deanna Troi. Janeway is less than pleased, but truthfully she has some things to work through, including her refusal to act on the deep emotional attachment she feels for a certain Borg-enhanced crewmember.

After cutting off all contact with Seven of Nine and Chakotay, and then ultimately the Voyager crew, Kathryn finds herself alone in a dark house in Bloomington, no family, no friends, no one she loves left, hiding from her past choices. When Harry comes to tell her the worst news, she finally has to face up to the damage she's caused to she who was always most dear to her.
This fic is J/7 but involves the other listed ships (and does portray R/7 in a positive way.) Very angsty, minor character deaths. Loosely based on some videos and articles that I found about the tension Kate Mulgrew had towards Jeri Ryan and their ultimate reconciliation. NOT an RPS.
