Returning to live, fundamentally changed, he hopes the family he cobbles together will hold this time. Broken people with sharp edges can come together to make something shine.

Tony doesn’t know when his path to being perceived as an overlord with a robot army started but he thinks it’s about the time Bruce’s little stowaway said “what kind of name is SHIELD? Who named that?”
And his sister -who had the terrifying habit of just popping into existence nearby and also knowing what everyone was thinking- responded, “what’s wrong with the name?”.
This seemed like some kind of confirmation for her brother whose only other comment was a muttered “we could do better”...
