Summary

But now the woman who she thought was her best friend is threatening their safety. Anna makes the rash and necessary decision to leave Boston. As they make their way through Massachusetts, Anna and Ellie run into another parent/daughter duo heading West: Joel and Sarah Miller.
Anna and Joel despise each other right out of the gate, but they share a common goal and need each other to accomplish it. Anna can provide the Millers with medical care thanks to her training and Joel can provide muscle that Anna begrudgingly admits will be necessary at some point. Still, tensions escalate almost every stop of the way along with some unexpected feelings that rise to the surface.
Through their desperate effort to save their reasons for breathing, Anna and Joel discover another type of love they didn’t think they were capable of.
