At some point, Eddie’s hand had made its way to Steve’s bad knee, massaging it gently in soothing circles. It was like magic, the way the deep ached subsided just enough for Steve’s posture to slump. He felt like putty under Eddie’s fingertips. Tension melted away from him as Eddie continued his work over his kneecap to the beginning of his thigh. He couldn’t help but close his eyes and let out a contented sigh.
“Do you want me to stop?” Eddie asked quietly.
“Huh?”
“Steve,” Eddie whispered. “Do you want me to stop?”

As the two of them started to slowly stumble to the front of the ER, Hopper took a brief moment to think about it. Took a moment to think how despite everything—despite barely knowing the kid, despite all his preconceptions and assumptions, despite the amount of times Steve had purposefully acted like a smart-ass punk just to piss him off—Hopper had realized something tonight:

But then Eddie saw a whole pile of kids get in Harrington’s car, and he overheard Nancy Wheeler say that “Steve was babysitting,” and that image didn’t even remotely align with anything Eddie knew about King Steve “The Hair” Harrington, but he figured he didn’t know much, anyway, and it wasn’t any of his business, when it came down to it.
Eddie thought so little of it, in fact, that he had almost forgotten that Max had apparently been babysat by one Steve Harrington. That is, until Steve Harrington started showing up at the trailer park, picking up Max and driving away, and then Eddie wouldn’t see Max at home again for days on end.
Eddie didn’t know much about babysitting, but he was pretty sure the gigs were more of an hourly thing.

Eddie’s stare is still transfixed on the device when he speaks. “You secretly have other friends or something, Steve? That’s a shit-ton of messages.”
Thank God he has his lock screen messages locked but still, literally fuck Steve’s life. This is the opposite of what he needs right now.
He pastes a smile onto his face, the whole diamond teeth and sparkling eyes. “Jealous, Munson?” He teases, grabbing the phone, a bit too possessively he’ll admit. There are things on there he doesn’t need Eddie seeing. It’s locked for a reason.
Eddie’s face morphes into a flirty thing. “You want me to be, big boy?”

Steve loves his boyfriend; he’s cared for, worried about, inspired to be better. Sure, his torso aches all the time, purple and bruised, and he’s using concealer for things besides eyebags, but Aiden is the best thing to ever happen to him. Until Steve starts driving Eddie to work each week. Suddenly, Steve’s minor crush on Eddie becomes something synonymous to major while Aiden’s getting angrier each day.
It’s ok, though, Steve knows what he deserves, and as long as Eddie remains none the wiser about how useless Steve is, Steve can still see him and also keep Aiden happy. Maybe.Bookmarked by CricketCat
