Keeping a pregnancy secret living in the clans is difficult. Keeping a pregnancy secret when you spend a significant amount of time around experienced queens is impossible. When Ferncloud discovers Leafpool's secret before her kits are born there is no hiding it from the rest of the clan, or even the other cats around the lake. “Shh!” Hollyleaf whips her body around to point her head towards the bushes, warning him to stay quiet. They exchanged a careful glance. Then they quickly move in unison into a crouched pose as they wait for the thing to reveal itself. Hollyleaf's ears strain for a hint. As it crept closer, she could make out loud rustling and the sound of paws rapidly thumping on the cold ground, which could only mean-
A white paw steps out of the green plants.
“They’re here already!”
Hollyleaf’s jaw drops. A young ginger she-cat stares back at her, green eyes widened with surprise.
“Squirrelflight?” Lionblaze exclaims out loud, eyes practically bulging out of his head. He immediately straightens up. “You got sent here too?”
