This episode takes place during the fall of 2380 (since Tom Paris mentions this issue of The Risian Ribald has been published by the end of September of that year in "Reconstruction Blues").

Summary
The Voyager crew celebrated two major holiday seasons during their stay on New Hope.
The first chapter, "The Reason for the Season" by Andra Marie, is an Interlude which takes place at Christmas.
A few days later, the holiday Neelix introduced to Voyager was celebrated. For eight days, the crew went about their normal duties during the day, but in the evening, they observed Prixin, the Talaxian Celebration of Family, which has become an integral part of Voyager's year. It's a time of remembrance, hope...and change.
