Summary
Alastor has forever been used to a certain nuisance of an alpha circling him at a distance like a shark every time he goes into heat—or perhaps like a lonely puppy, begging for scraps. But the man reeks of insecurity and alpha pheromones, and Alastor has no patience nor need for alphas. It has been a long time since he has cared for such overbearing company.
Until, as it turns out, he learns that Vox is not an alpha at all.

Summary
Doctor Legundo tries to calm his pounding heart as Owen leans over him from behind. One arm going over his shoulder, hand placed on his chest, pushing ever so slightly back, so Legs won’t lean forward on instinct. The other hand gently grabbing under his chin, holding his head up. Owen’s hands are so terribly cold.
Legs sucks in a breath when he feels Owen’s lips touch his skin, just above his unbuttoned shirt collar. Low enough to easily hide later. Owen’s lips linger for a moment, before they part, and a sharp stab of pain allows a quiet whimper to escape Legs’ mouth as teeth sink into his neck.
- or -
Doctor Legundo wants to help Owen, and he’s willing to do anything to keep nurturing the trust between them. Nightly visits, and quiet moments makes both the doctor and the vampire sure that they can fix the other.

Summary
He wonders, not for the first time, what had led him to this. Butterfly wings fluttering near his face, in his open mouth, crawling down his esophagus to settle in his stomach, wings beating, always.
It had been a simple decision in the beginning. The vampire had a high-level clearance, was charming, easy to get along with. Not much escaped his watchful eyes, horizon point of the city assigned to him - Scar knew everything going on in its belly and then some. Applying to work for him had been a calculated risk.
It had started to be less simple when Grian had handed in his resignation letter the morning after Scar had discovered him towering over a vampire's corpse, guts out and knife in.
Scar had only laughed in big, full-bodied breaths petering off into small restrained giggles as he tore the letter in two. And Grian's foolish feet still dragged him to Scar's room every day, just to feel that electric tingle on his skin whenever the great, titanic wave of Scar's joy drowned him in salt and foam.
The line between hate and love is very thin, and Grian, tightrope dancer that he is, keeps falling on the wrong side of it.

Summary
His hands do not tremble when he pours out the salt. It's to be expected of course, because Grian has been doing it for ages by now, but in the quiet of the room, it feels significant.
"Scar." He does his best to keep his voice as steady as his hands, but it cracks near the end - a slight drawn-out r that nearly makes him frown. He's over this. He has to be, because there is only so much hurt his heart can take before it breaks into two identical parts. (One into his chest, and the other-)
No answer.
"Scar, I need you." A beat of silence. "Please."
The air fills with sulfur, and the smell Grian has come to associate with Scar, old wood thrown into the fire, ashes, and sugar makes his head spin. He doesn't have to open his eyes to know his wish has been granted.
"Well, hello there." His voice is the same as ever, warm and syrupy, honey trap for the unaware. His words are teasing, his tone familiar, and for an instant, a single second that makes his breath hitch, Grian can imagine it's his Scar standing in front of him.
He opens his eyes and stares coldly at the demon trapped in the circle of salt.

Bookmarker's Notes
The writing is absolutely fantastic, the word choices paint a picture so vivid that it makes you feel things in every way imaginable. It keeps you in the world and you have to just sit there and take it. Great experience. Also Felt like the characters that were used. Mumbo felt like Mumbo, Grian like Grian. AND SCAR. Dude Scar in this is so... <333. Wonderful characterization and world building I'd say, you got what you needed and left satisfied at the end. 10/10.
