“Are you over him?”
“What?” Will’s eyes widened at the sudden question. He watched a look of panic pass over Mike’s face but he didn’t look away from Will.
His voice was close to a whisper, “Your crush…are you over him?”
Will was tempted to say yes, yes he is fully over him and can try to find his Vickie, but Will was never good at lying to Mike.
“Does it matter?” He hated the way his voice began to tremble.
“Yes”, Mike refused to break eye contact, “your feelings matter, Will.”
He sure makes it hard for Will to get over him.
“I’m…I’m trying.”
Mike studied Will’s face, when did they get so close? He became aware of how close their knees are from touching, their hands rested on the couch next to each other, the ghost of a touch waiting to happen.
“How do you know they’re not like you?”OR
Mike and Will talk after Will comes out.

Summary
To Mike’s relief, Lucas decided to match his tone and lowered his voice, but that relief quickly washed away with his next words.
“You know, I really thought you of all people would understand.”
What? What the hell is he talking about?
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Mike demanded.
Lucas released an exasperated sigh. “It means that I thought you would at least understand what I’m going through, with what’s happened to Will and all.”
Mike froze at Will’s name, at what Lucas may be implying. “What does Will have to do with this?”
“I’m just saying- you know what, forget it.”Or:
Mike and Lucas get in an argument which leads to a much needed discussion.

“Sorry if I scared you,” Mike said. “I didn’t mean to make you think something had happened.”
“It’s fine. We probably all just assume the worst lately anyway.”
“Yeah I guess so.”
Mike glanced down momentarily at the sketchbook on Will’s lap. It was open to a page of what was clearly going to become a dragon. It looked phenomenal. All of Will’s art could never fail to amaze Mike.
“So why did you come down here then? If nothing bad happened…”
“I- uh, I couldn’t sleep. And then you left and you weren’t coming back so I just thought I would take a walk and see what you were doing.”Or:
Mike has trouble falling asleep which leads to a late night talk with Will and some confessions.

Mike doesn’t answer. He just smirks.
And then suddenly, Will is falling backward onto the bed. A quick movement, barely any warning. The next thing he knows, he’s sitting on Mike’s lap. His hands immediately grab onto Mike’s shoulders to steady himself.
“What the hell,” he breathes.
“Hi,” Mike says, grinning.
He leans in for a kiss, but Will presses a hand to his face, stopping him.
“We have only forty minutes left, Michael,” Will says, doing his best to keep his voice annoyed.

“Okay, sure, yeah. What about him?”
“I’m a bad friend.” Mike admitted, breathing it out like a vomited confession, like something he was desperate to be rid of.
“Did something happen?” Steve asked.
“Yes.” He paused. “Well, no. It’s— it’s more like… more like… he got a boyfriend.” Mike huffed out a breath.
“I know.” Steve agreed slowly, brows raised. “Carlton. Will, Robin and I met up a while back and he introduced us. Seems like a good kid. What about him?”
Mike felt like a fucking idiot.
Of course Steve didn’t get it. Why would Steve get it?
“I… I just…” How was Mike even meant to begin to talk about this? “It’s driving me crazy, man. I hate the guy.”
OR -
Mike spirals about his feelings, gets in his car, and somehow ends up going to Steve Harrington for help. He gets a much-needed pep talk and finally goes after what he wants.
