For once in a very long time, he had been afraid, but about what? He didn't fear death, not anymore. It was inevitable, something guaranteed for everyone eventually. Probably earlier for him than others considering his career. He can recall being afraid and making mistakes on his early missions, it seemed so long ago now that he was considered the best. It almost felt like a different man, he supposes he had been more of a boy then man. However, he had been scared and made mistakes today, multiple. What had been first? Had his fear followed his mistakes or had his mistakes followed his fear.
All this indecision— He should be dead.
He turns his attention to his arm, he really should do something about it before he bleeds out in their shower, too busy moping to attend to his wounds.
After this shower. He would pull himself together. He couldn't work like this.

Summary
It was different to how he used to feel at the end of missions, or maybe his happiness at the conclusion of a mission had always felt like this. Perhaps he hadn't realised the lack of genuine joy, having a limited experience of joy to compare it too prior to Operation Strix. Now, Yor sits alone in the dim living room, clutching the dark red-brown stained paper to her chest, dried tears in trails down her cheeks, she had waited until after Anya had fallen asleep before she had retreated into her room to read the remainder of the letter, but unable to stay still she had paced around the house, grateful for her soft steps and Anya's deep sleep. She had ended up curled up in what had always been Loid's chair. Her fingers trailing over the armrest. Loid's chair was worn differently to the sofa and her own armchair and she savours the difference, savouring the evidence that Loid was once here.

Twiyor Valentines Week 2023/ day 1/ first kiss

“Can-” Loid cuts himself off looking over Yor’s head towards the door at the end of the hall.He shifts his weight, as if he intends to step past her and continue down the hall.
Yor ducks her head and shrinks closer to the wall hooking her fingers over her doorknob.
Loid stays silent, staring down the hall. Yor peers up at him as she twists her door handle carefully opening her door. She waits, watching his expression, wondering if he would continue his sentence. Her spine straightens as His eyes narrow, his expression searching and almost cold as he glances from his door to her. Finally, he sighs, his brow furrows as he looks towards the floor, his eyes closing for a moment before they raise, and he meets Yor’s gaze. His expression switches, now hinting at a vulnerability that simultaneously frightens and intrigues Yor.
He flexes one of his hands, “Can I kiss you?”
“Oh.” Sound reminiscent of television static fills her ears, her face setting ablaze with a burning heat.
