Summary
It starts with what looks like a failed assassination attempt on David Sarif, when a malfunction causes the VTOL to crash. Malik gets out alive, but both she and the chopper are out of commission when a truck full of augmentations gets stolen. Things go tits-up pretty fast after that, and when Jensen is captured, there is only one person left who could possibly, theoretically help, and that is a skinny nerd with an Attitude.
Frank knows he’s clever and resourceful, but he also knows he’s not in any way a Jensen 2.0. Still, things being as they are, he’s Jensen’s only chance, and for once it’s Frank Pritchard having to play knight in shining armour to save someone’s ass.

Summary
...He's barely rested since they pulled him off the ice, it isn't long before things go awry. Ignoring limits doesn't remove them.
Jensen is injured trying to find out if Belltower has any more kidnapping victims, and his augs disabled beyond basic functionality. He's smuggled out of the Belltower-controlled city to recover at the home of a disabled ex-vet tech, with guidance from their paramedic friend. Recovery isn't exactly smooth, and Jensen grapples with how he feels like he has to be useful at all costs... including his health. But he has a watchful host and their guard dog to keep him grounded.
Meanwhile, Malik and Pritchard cope with their own issues, and frantically try to find their missing friend.
Jensen and Pritchard are also dealing with the feelings they've caught for each other.

The first was that she was dressed as Villaia, the cunning but undeniably attractive villainess of STAROBOT, an Old World gungam he had been showing Lucy recently.
The second was that this version of Villaia’s outfit was a lot less modest than canon.

But the town's not done setting up Mi-an's little atelier in town, and Yan wants her to start work early, and Rocky wants his crane, so Mason's scrapyard of a workshop will have to do.
Lucy arrives late, with a busted arm and the only thing she's itching to do is get to work. The good news is, the atelier in town is ready for her to move into. The bad news is, she came on the train that just got robbed by the most infamous outlaw this side of the Eufaula Desert.
But if Mi-an's at the center of the crises in Sandrock, and Lucy is the builder that learns to take things slow, then what does life in Sandrock look like for her?

Frank wasn't used to being wanted. It didn't matter how: even just in the context of a friendship felt alien. Needed was different, was what he was used to. He was a valued contributor to Sarif Industries despite his personhood. The entity that was Francis Wendell Pritchard was tolerated so that cyber threats were guaranteed to be remedied without incident.
Perhaps that was why he'd been able to navigate this connection with Jensen in a way he'd failed to develop others. Jensen needed him. The ex-cop was a wreck, drinking himself to sleep and barely keeping his energy converters fueled and sliding dangerously close to a complete mental breakdown. He might not survive much longer without a capable person's intervention. Frank was just the one that fit the bill.
