Summary
It started as a bet: Operation Fluster Mamoru. Two weeks, fifteen points, and one very smug target. Then, teasing turns into suggestive quips and an accidental game of chicken. Winning means bragging rights and an onsen trip. Losing might mean admitting the truth about what (or who) she actually wants.

Summary
“Well, it is rather unfortunate that you wanting to apologise to her for declaring you would never marry her, is the reason you have to marry her,” Anthony tried to make light of the situation with a quip, but Colin was not to be pushed out of his brooding head.
“No, it is not, Brother,” Colin answered, still shocked by his sudden betrothal, but realising he did not regret it, “Penelope is my best friend. And like mother used to say “you must simply marry the one who feels like your dearest friend”. If I understood her correctly, friendship is the best possible foundation a marriage can have and I for one am glad I will at least have the best possible start for my marriage to Penelope.”
But will best friends ever turn into lovers.

“Colin, will you have sex with me?”

Colin offers to take Pen's virginity; no strings attached, just looking out for a friend. Since Pen has already resigned to the fact Colin would never love her, this arrangement was perfect to help her be confident enough to find another relationship (or a few). So she goes along with it. And Colin, well, is just happy being a good friend. That's what friends are for right?
However, one of them is going to learn the hard way why sleeping with a friend is never a clean break.

Summary
Penelope Featherington starts the new social season with a mission: To make Eloise Bridgerton forgive her for lying to her for literal years. This will not be helped by the fact that she has to bring back Lady Whistledown for good to secure her family's dire financial situation, but she still has to try. Eloise is her best friend after all!
Colin Bridgerton also has a mission: To make Penelope Featherington forgive him for telling the whole world she isn't marriage material. To ensure he succeeds, he comes up with a brilliant plan to get back into her good graces and get the happy-ever-after she deserves to boot. (Colin Bridgerton is an idiot.)
***
Continuation of season 2. Spoilers for season 2. TV-continuity. Season 3 speculation. Polin-centric with a hearty dash of Penloise-friendship.
