Summary
Vulcan is falling into a singularity, Jim and Sulu have just beamed back aboard and Spock is beaming down. They have minutes to do something, anything, to try and save lives.
Jim takes charge of the Enterprise in a different way and it changes the aftermath of the battle. Amanda lives, but Spock is still grieving losses both personal and shared. Pressures of expectation burden him, and it is a long road to recovery for all that remains of his now-homeless clan.

Summary
As far as first years of space college went, Jim thought he was doing pretty damn well. For one thing he was taking almost triple the amount of credits a first year should have, and was passing all of them with flying colors. He had a great roommate, and was doing pretty fucking well in the, well. Fucking department.
Now if he could stop getting into fights all the time, that would make a perfect first year. It’d also keep Pike off his ass, which is always a plus.
