“That sounds lovely.” She smiled. Goro stayed silent but did not protest, a display of agreement in its own right.
“But we gotta set up a rule,” Akira continued. “No crying until we hand over the calling card to Maruki. Okay?”
Akira and Sumire learn about Goro’s fate on January 26th, one week ahead of schedule.

“I hate you, actually.”
“Ooh, say it again.” Akira’s smile was more like a bite of air. One corner of his lip raised more than the other as he bared his teeth.
Goro twisted around to face Akira, leaning close enough for their bangs to brush together. His gaze flickered to Akira’s mouth more than once as he crooned, “I. Hate. You.”
Sumire gaped. Was this real? Was she really seeing this?
“Wow, are we about to kiss right now?” Akira had the gall to lean in, eyelashes fluttering.
Goro watched, transfixed, as he said without heat, “In your dreams, dipshit.”
“Oh, we’re definitely not kissing in my dreams.”
Goro made a disgusted noise, standing straight and turning away just enough to hide his heavy blush from Akira. Sumire saw everything, though.
They liked each other. They really liked each other.

Summary
Something was amiss between Akechi Goro, Kurusu Akira, and Yoshizawa Sumire. That something displayed in fluttering touches, looks not kept, and words not spoken, an awkward in-between state where a transition was long overdue yet in no rush to come.
Something was amiss. And so, something had to be done.
Yet among their friends, there was no consensus on what shape that something must take.
Love is in the air, that much is clear. But when the Phantom Thieves discuss what's going on between Akira, Akechi, and Sumire, they quickly discover they are in a disagreement on who deserves to be together the most.
