Dazai’s head snapped up as the bell chimed above the cafe door, eyes narrowing at the figure walking through it housing the familiar, fiery mess of hair he’d come to associate with the knot currently forming in his stomach. Him. Again.
Nakahara Chuuya sat down at the corner opposite his. Trying too hard. He wants to lure me into a sense of security.
“Just an americano, thanks.”
Dazai stiffened. That’s the same drink as mine. Is he mocking me? Trying to get in my head?
Dazai Osamu, an anxiety-riddled student hailing from a small town in Aomori, transfers to Yokohama for a nine-month program in Comparative Literature. Unfortunately, things start going downhill when he meets fellow first-year Nakahara Chuuya at orientation, then again at the coffee shop, the beach, and somehow, again, on his way home from the movies.
Convinced the red-headed phantom has it out for him, Dazai is determined to make sense of the coincidences—if only to prove to himself that he isn’t imagining things.
Meanwhile, Chuuya’s biggest concern remains passing physics while avoiding the bug-eyed creep from his required philosophy class.
