Summary
His focus is on the figure sitting barefoot with one of those shock blankets draped over his shoulders. He looks hollow with cuts and bruising framing his right eye and cheek and blood splatter covering his face, neck, and bare chest.
His hands are resting on his knees, kept together by the metal handcuffs binding his wrists. His jeans are covered in blood. A lot of blood.
Raylan approaches cautiously, but he doesn't put his hand on his holster because he knows this person and he isn't a goddamn threat.
"Tim."

Summary
Tim was usually hyperaware of his surroundings. This habit stemmed from years of listening for his father's heavy boots stumbling down the hallway of their trailer. It was a hard habit to drop, but the harder habit to drop was hyperfocusing on his target. That came from intense training and a seemingly primal need to do whatever was necessary to either track down or take out that target.
Had he been paying closer attention to his surroundings, he might've been prepared for getting hit in the face by a brick of cocaine.

Summary
It's not the bruises covering his body that makes Raylan's stomach churn. He was expecting those. It's the yelp that escapes his lips as he sinks slowly into the tub filled with ice with Raylan's hands helping to guide him down. The yelp is followed by a pained hiss as he settles and leans his head back against the rolled up towel that's been placed on the edge of the porcelain tub.
"Was that from pain or the cold?" Raylan asks as he sits back on the toilet. Tim keeps his eyes closed when he answers.
"Both."

Summary
“We are alone, yes.” It was not a question: an observation, matter-of-fact. If Shane didn’t know better, he’d say Rozanov sounded scared. And he had every right to be; the MAV was gone. The crew was gone.
They were entirely, completely alone.
“Yes,” murmured Shane.
“Hmm,” replied Rozanov, which was not an answer. “Fuck.”
“Fuck,” agreed Shane. “Fuck.”
****
On Sol 6, the Ares Three mission goes horribly, horribly wrong. Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov find themselves dealing with the consequences.
Namely: being stranded on Mars, together.
****
Or: 'The Martian' but a gnarly, gnarly Mars situationship.

Summary
The road unspools in front of them as a strip of old film- washed out, grainy, flickering in places. Petrol stations with broken lights. Chain-link fences blooming with kudzu and barking dogs in their kennels for the night. The occasional pair of eyes flashing in the underbrush. Ain’t nothing between here and the turn of the road but hell-deep potholes and humidity thick enough to chew.
“You hungry?” Raylan asks after a long mile of nothing but engine noise and cricketsong. It’s a casual kind of question, stretched lazy across the dash, but he feels it lands heavier than it ought to.
Tim doesn’t answer right away. He’s staring out the window, cheek pressed to the glass like he’s trying to cool off something beneath the skin. Finally shrugs, eyes still fixed on the blur of trees.
“Could eat,” he says.
