Summary
Rio Vidal did not plan on thinking about her professor this much.
She definitely did not plan on memorizing the way Agatha Harkness moves, the way she speaks, the way her attention feels like something you don’t come back from unchanged.
Agatha is older. Married. Brilliant. Completely off-limits.
And Rio is running out of reasons to pretend that matters.
OR
Rio falls balls deep for her professor.

Summary
“There’s no need to be nervous Miss Vidal, you’ve already challenged me in a lecture. This meeting should be easy for you.” Agatha’s eyes flicked up and briefly met hers before returning to the laptop screen.
Rio felt the heat creeping into her cheeks. ‘Amazing first impression acquired.’ She thought. “Yeah, I jumped the gun on that one. I apologise, Professor.”
“No need to apologise. It’s nice to know at least one person in that class has prior knowledge of the subject being discussed. I just ask that, if you’re going to challenge me, you have the confidence to do so immediately and don’t need it coaxing out of you.”OR: Rio is a PhD student, Agatha is her supervisor and some lines become blurred.

Summary
Rio Vidal, self-made millionaire, is a partier with a bad drug and alcohol habit. She is saddled with custody of her niece Valentina when her brother and his wife pass away unexpectedly. She hasn't spoken to her family for 15 years and wants nothing to do with the 17-year-old on her doorstep.
Agatha Harkness is a struggling single parent to teenage son Nicky. She works two jobs to make ends meet and still always makes time for her son. When he befriends a new girl at school with some behavioral challenges and asks for her help, Agatha lets the girl into her home and picks up Rio's slack caring for her. She doesn't mind being a de facto guardian, but if there's one thing she's determined about, it's to talk (or knock) some sense into Rio Vidal.
Rio is three Negronis in when her phone rings, and she can barely hear it over the pulsing music of the club; barely feel it over the bass pounding in her chest. “Yeah?” she shouts, putting the phone to her ear.
It’s somebody saying she’s inherited a kid. Her niece or something. Yeah, right.
“Okay, good one buddy. Sure, whatever.”
And she hangs up.
Orders another drink.

Summary
“But it’s embarrassing,” Rio said. “I’m twenty-fucking-seven and I’ve never even kissed a woman.”
“It’s only embarrassing if you let it embarrass you,” Agatha clarified. “Who cares what others think?”
“It’s a foundational part of society,” Rio argued. “The social contract. If I want other people to care what I think, I need to care what they think.”
Agatha held up her hands defensively. “Okay, Archimedes.” And then she twirled her finger in a circle to showcase the bar. “Look around you. Plenty of ladies here like locking lips with other ladies. Go up and ask one of them. Don’t pussyfoot or give them your life backstory. Just do it.”
In a moment that Agatha was sure took some bravery, Rio stared her in the eye and asked, “Can I kiss you?”
