There is nothing in the world worse than been assigned to Beacon Hills for your training hours as an EMT. It might as well be a nexus portal, or hell mouth.
The only thing that made it was worse that the worst classmate in the world, know it all Stilinski was also assigned there.

Summary
“You need an anchor,” Derek tells him when Stiles lies on his back, panting, naked, on the forest floor.
Stiles snorts. Pain and starvation are the only two things that have worked at all, but neither keeps him human for long. “No shit, asshole.” Not like he’s tried to find something to hold onto his humanity every time he’s managed to drag himself back into human form. Stiles sucks in a breath and braces when he feels himself slipping.
Then Derek digs his claws into his thigh. Stiles screams murder but Derek ignores him. “Pain,” he says as he hovers over Stiles while kneeling beside him, “isn’t the best anchor, but at least it is one.”Or the one where Derek turns Stiles to save his life, and they leave Beacon hills to figure it all out, but they're shit at communicating.

Summary
He’s been obsessed with Derek Hale ever since he moved to Beacon Hills. He used to imagine running into him at coffee shops and becoming friends and then boyfriends. No matter that Derek Hale’s reputation as "Derek Hale: sex god" had already started garnering traction by the time Stiles got to high school with him. And plus, you know, there’s the whole straight thing. But Stiles always held out some hope, because Derek wouldn’t have been the first “straight” jock on the lacrosse team to bend him over. He wouldn’t even have been the second. He would have been the third. So, there was always that little inkling of want in the back of Stiles’ mind, but it never came to fruition. Derek Hale went on to sleep with lots and lots and lots of girls and never once did he even spare a glance at Stiles or run into him at a coffee shop.
And Stiles was sure, when he started at Beacon Hills University last year, that the chances were even slimmer, because this was college and there were twenty times as many students here as in high school. So, he quite confidently resigned himself to the fact that a relationship with Derek Hale would forever remain his deepest, darkest fantasy.
But then six days ago, he showed up to Am Lit.

“This is Sheriff Noah John Stilinski of the Beacon Hills Sheriff’s Office. The date is February twenty second, twenty fourteen. The hour is six thirty-two AM. This is the questioning of Derek Hale, age twenty-six, regarding the events of Mieczyslaw “Stiles” Stilinski’s kidnapping. Under California Penal Code section two-zero-nine, this case qualifies for both asportation and aggravated kidnapping."
Derek listens to every word. He's been in trouble with the law before- hell, he's even been falsely accused before, so that's not new either- yet this is new territory. He can't get locked up because then Stiles won't have someone to scent him, or clean his wounds, or protect him against the psychotic doctors from the institute who are certainly looking for them. Christ, Stiles must be so defenseless right now. Derek has to clear this up now and with a quickness; it doesn't matter how much he’ll have to apologize to Stiles for saying every vulnerable, dehumanizing little thing they went through together in that small concrete cage.
