The first half a dozen or so times that Gerard stops by the Starbucks closest to SVA, he's so desperate to get the caffeine into his system he doesn't even notice the guy behind the counter. Nor does he pay much attention to the fact that his cup seems to magically refill itself a couple of times while he's hunched over one of the tables and drawing steadily, his headphones on. He's busy, okay — his winter project is due in less than six weeks, and he is screwed. Royally, completely and without question.
The cookies, though. The cookies he notices. He just doesn't know what the fuck they mean.

Frank made sure to wear his oldest pair of jeans, because even with his full-length apron and his constant reminders that paint belongs on paper and not on clothing, he always ended up with tiny, multi-colored handprints all over his clothes. It’s always been quite a task to try and describe the feeling. There are moments of sexual tension, there are bouts of giddy butterflies, but more often than not, there is… this.
Laying here in the bunk squeezed so close (because this space is not designed for two adult men), it always holds the same feeling. The drive is quiet, but Frank’s mind is louder than a megaphone in a wind tunnel. Every thought arrives with sirens and flashing lights, each one chirping like malware pop-ups on a caffeine bender. He tries to focus on the road – cracked pavement, people picking their noses at traffic lights, Subaru Guy auditioning for Mad Max. But his mind keeps rerouting back to Gerard. Mikey can’t be too mad about it. Well, Mikey probably will be mad, but Gerard can at least argue semantics later. Then Frank glances back at him with that grin, and Gerard instantly forgets everything he’s ever promised his brother since birth.
