“Everyone’s got something Erwin wants,” Mike says. “Here’s my advice for you, little guy. He’s gonna come to you, one day, offering you something. Something that’s gonna be hard to refuse. But you've gotta refuse, all right? For your own sake, you've gotta say no to him.”
If it were that easy, Levi thinks, the bastard wouldn’t own half the souls in this shitty town.

“I think I was born to be a devil,” Erwin says quietly. “I don’t think most people could endure it. That boy…” Levi squeezes Erwin’s hand and leans over the lip of the bathtub, pressing his face into Erwin’s neck. “That boy you didn’t choose - it was for the best. Better that he died at peace with himself. You did him a kindness.”
Levi wonders, some days, if he made the right choice.

Summary
Zeke and the Commander are similar in many regards. The Commander is intelligent; the Commander is a Titan shifter; the Commander has his own Ackerman - perhaps he and Zeke will be alike in that respect someday, too.
Although, if Zeke were to have it his way, he would take the Commander’s Ackerman for himself. It would not be something they would share.

In the wake of the outbreak of a vicious disease, Levi travels the wilderness with his companion. It is not so bad, living off the land. Levi has learned which berries are safe, which mushrooms pair well with roots and potatoes, and how to catch fish from rivers.
