They’re both alphas, Wonwoo and Seungcheol, but that doesn’t mean they’re the same. Visually Wonwoo might tick all the boxes for alpha - tall, appealing, wide shoulders, sharp canines - but in reality his instincts are muted, even underdeveloped. He has a quiet and subdued personality, and his competitive instinct and territoriality tend to be quite small in scope. His protective instinct, thus far, seems to be limited to a kind of watchfulness, a desire to observe everything but not necessarily to intervene. Seungcheol, on the other hand, is actively being groomed as a leader, and is encouraged to show both the desire and the ability to control and corral the unruly, unsettled pack that is Seventeen. His voice has bottomed out to give him a low deep growl when he needs it, and though he’s not getting any taller he keeps putting on muscle.
So if even Wonwoo will sometimes feel his jaw aching with the desire to set his teeth into something, if even he gets gripped wild thoughts like he wants to seize someone’s attention at all costs, he can see why there are times Seungcheol gets a bit rough and unpredictable.
