Summary
Drake tapped his foot against the pavement as he waited. It’d only been a few days since the Ramrod incident, but it felt like forever ago. Now that he thought about it, that was probably the side effects of reality almost being torn apart.
The night of the incident, Gosalyn had been taken away by CPS. M’ma Cabrera told him not to worry, that they were just doing interviews. But still he worried. A lot. He lost sleep over it. He wished he could’ve gotten her his number before they whisked her away.
But then M’ma said she needed a guardian. Someone to take care of her while her grandpa was missing. She didn’t have any other family, so Drake took up the offer. He signed legal documents that appointed him her temporary guardian. The guardianship lasted for six months, but he could renew it when it expired if her grandpa wasn't found by then.
He shook himself out of his thoughts and hugged his sweater vest closer to him. The weather was starting to get cold, and he could only hope the workers had kept Gosalyn warm.
A few more minutes passed before the doors to the CPS building opened. Quickly he shook his head and looked up.
