Two eyes looked at him in confusion.
“What?”
He came to sit on the bed, and immediately, Shouto moved to press his head against his thigh. His heart filled with affection, and he let his crooked fingers play with bicolor hair.
“It's a common romance trope”, he explained. “Two people who aren't together but are interested in each other end up in the same bed for some reason, and the intimacy of it is enough to get them to confess. Or to have sex. Or both.”

“Cloud! Look! I found another one!”
Aerith's excited voice washes over him like a small tidal wave and Cloud doesn't know if he should sigh or smile about her eagerness as he watches her from where he stands in the distance. He's close enough to jump into action in case any danger appears, but far enough that Aerith can't easily drag him into her current activities. He knows she would do that if given the chance. The Chocobo lent to them will have to do because someone has to be on guard, no matter how peaceful the surroundings may seem.
