And there he was. Just as in your face and over the top as ever.
Only he looked… different. He looked like fucking Bon Jovi. Jeans so ripped they may as well just be shorts and a crop top and hair pulled back into a bun with loose bits falling around his face. In some weird way, the jeans almost seemed more revealing than shorts. They weren’t, of course, Steve couldn’t see the backs of Eddie’s legs or his left knee or either calf, but there was so much open ripping around his thighs that almost seemed more… teasing.
“Holy shit, I can see your whole face.” Steve mumbled out, lips parted in genuine surprise, instantly reaching out to try to touch the bun at the crown of his head.
Eddie batted him away.

Steve agrees to help Eddie paint his trailer, but isn't prepared for the bisexual crisis it sends him spiralling into.

Henry hasn't seen his roommate in nearly two months. Alex left for Austin shortly before Thanksgiving for two weeks, and Henry left for London the day before he was set to return. They’ve had the odd facetime call, and several hundred text messages to help them tide their time apart—but that didn’t take away from the fact that Henry fucking missed him.
And after three delayed flights, he’s finally standing outside their apartment door, and he’s resigned himself to the fact that it’ll still be several hours before he can finally see Alex again. He sighs and sets down his bag to dig out his keys, carefully tucks the key into the lock, and quietly opens the door, turning his back to it to pick up his carryon and grab his roller bag. As quietly as he can, he scoots backwards into the apartment, flinching as the roller bag bounces off the door frame.

The low light of the bar makes it easy to relax. There's a soft hum of chatter and a steady beat to the music that isn't overwhelming. It's easy; smooth dark wood and strings of multi-coloured lights with posters of pieces of history on the walls – pictures from Stonewall, Harvey Milk sitting on the top of a car riding through San Francisco; a poster of Bowie sits one wall next to Freddie Mercury against exposed brick. It’s comforting, safe.
He doesn't even realise that the brightly dressed bartender has disappeared and been replaced by someone else until he looks back again to see a small woman with black hair in a plaid shirt. Behind her, the blonde guy, who is no longer looking down at his notebook, but looking right across the bar, at Alex.

His mouth stays there, pressed close to Alex’s ear, the only thing louder than the drum of his own heartbeat. “Not when you sober up, and you remember what I’ve said. Not when you think about tonight and everything leading up to it. And certainly,” he pauses, licks his lips. “Not when you’re at home wondering why nobody loved you enough to stay.”
He takes a step back, and Alex blinks the club back into existence, disregarding the people around them and the music and the lights entirely in favor of flipping around to face him, confusion on the tip of his tongue.
Henry smiles wryly, almost guiltily. “Because I did,” He says, raising his voice to be heard over the music and nodding. “I do.”

Since then, Henry’s lukewarm indifference tilts toward cold more often than not. It’s better that way, though, because now Alex can convince himself that he deserves the harsh treatment. He still doesn’t like it, but at least he can better rationalize Henry’s behavior now.
And that’s how it goes, with neither of them liking the other but refusing to let their mutual antagonism impact their work. They can be cordial when they need to be to get shit done, for the kids.
Alex always tries to put the shelter above his feelings—it’s infinitely more important than halfhearted friction with someone else who, admittedly, is doing a lot of good for the people who frequent it.
If Henry doesn’t care, he at least does a good job of faking it.
But still, Henry volunteering to put on a pumpkin head and corresponding costume is… unexpected.
It’s why Alex can’t look away.

Since reading Red White & Royal Blue, I kept wanting to read a Harry/Draco retelling of the story. This is my version of it.
Harry and Draco are forced to pretend to be friends after a little... incident at a fundraising gala involving a cake and a little too much alcohol. Neither of them is happy with the arrangement, but their respective senses of duty to family and an electoral campaign keep them both cooperative.
As they reluctantly get to know each other better, they learn that maybe they have more in common than they thought, and the pretend friendship turns into something more.Featuring a Muggle curious Draco, Dr.Who references, parties, politics, and coming out.
