Gerri just snorts, like she isn't enjoying it. Like it isn't funny, seeing this little brat drunk on power, pushing Gerri back against her own desk. Karolina narrows her eyes slightly, but says nothing. She already knows that she's won, Gerri won't deny her this—not now, not after everything.

Sometimes Philippa forgets how much finding these little shards of truth—of Triss’ heart—reminds her of startling awake in suffocating sunlight.
