Summary
Summary: Coil doesn't really do spawnday celebrations, but it's not like he'll say no to a free gift, right? Especially when it comes from Spindle, his incredibly weird friend who makes silly little gifts themself. Except he also finds out they see completely different colors from him, and... they discuss something deeply uncomfortable and new to Coil; caring for others.
Sneak Peak: [Coil's unwrapping the snack, movements almost… timid? Definitely slower than usual. When Boombox or Skateboard hands him a snack, he tears into it like… well, a dog. Now he's like a dog sniffing a suspicious treat. Perhaps Coil is just a big, nonchalant dog? That would be an easier way to think about him, make him less scary. But it doesn't feel right. Like putting a circle peg into a square hole. It'll go in, but you know it's not the right hole for that peg.]

Summary: Subspace needs to deal with stress. He knows quite a few ways, taught by the supervisors, yet he also knows his own secret way that helps a lot! Blackrock newspawn aren’t properly managed, after all.
Sneak Peak: [Subspace stops zoning out, not wanting to be caught and lose his prized possession. He washes it every night, cleans it off, making sure the scent of blood doesn’t linger. Tonight, he isn’t quite sure how stressed he is, how much he needs to drain from his body. So he presses down with the weight of how he feels, stopping with an audible gasp, his body forcing him to quit going deeper. Instead of pulling back, like his body is crying for him to do, he slides it down. Watching the beautiful crimson waterfall starting to flow.]

Summary: When Subspace’s partner through it all suddenly abandons him, he finds comfort in his co-worker, Hyperlaser. Post-disaster Subkit, up for interpretation if one-sided… Hyperlaser is down bad for the mentally ill huzz, his beautiful princess with disorders… and they can’t stop being awkward around each other, sorry.
Sneak Peak: [He manages to bite down the rude remark he wants to make, entirely for the sake of being nice. He came over to Hyperlaser’s booth and sat down without asking, already snapped at him, and he’s still trying to be better. To prove to himself that he’s better, that he doesn’t need Medkit.]

Summary
Subspace has a simple life. Work all day, take breaks for treatment, medication, and naps at scheduled intervals. Except, over time, he's slowly starting to realize some hard truths. It's nothing he wants to know, but perhaps he has known all along, just denied it. It is not perfect, and therefore inefficient.
Unfortunately, there are things in his life that are trying to get him to realize perfection doesn't exist, and he's doing more than he needs to, even by Blackrock standards. Gamma and the Biograft (he definitely did NOT model after his own selfish desires. Being clingy is NOT something he wants to do!) he keeps around in his lab as an assistant (company) especially. Hyperlaser is, hesitantly, included, as he hopes there's a chance for Subspace to get out of the intense conditioning he went through as a newspawn, no matter how much he refuses to get any form of help.

Spindle makes a nice little gift for Sword's birthday! Easy delivery! No. They do it at MIDNIGHT on his birthday, which is an INTERESTING plan when he lives with A DEITY. It goes good, but they're so tired of his crush on Rocket. It's mutual. Please. Why do neither of them realize this. Spindle isn't close enough with these two to stay involved in this nonsense.
Sword is whimsical. He is thriving. Spindle challenged his idea that his crush on Rocket is fleeting and going to go away.
Sneak Peak: [Deities, help them gain the strength to deal with these morons they talk to, and also help the idiots in question figure out their crushes are mutual. Spindle did not get paid enough to start dealing with this, and now they’re stuck with it forever.]

Summary
Scythe's given two presents by some kid who she VAGUELY knows Phights and Medkit mentioned once or twice. Sharpening stone for her scythe? Thoughtful, obviously got help from Medkit since everyone in the Phighting scene knows her as Rifle (Banhammer is NOT allowed to say her actual name, as per legal contract as a Phighter, sucks to be him!). The oziphrage plush, carefully made of wire? Clearly The Broker was involved, and now she's stuck thinking about the past.
Later in the night, The Broker asks "Big Sister Scythe" (as she's known in the Church) for help on telling this kid the truth of their identity. After, Scythe sleeps against her oziphrage for the first time in a while, and has a brief moment of confusion over being considered its baby. Oh, and she discusses body pillows around the same time.
Sneak Peak: [It was a bit hard to focus on her spawnday party, even with how excited everyone got, after… whatever that was. Tripwire. She knows of them; of course she does, with how The Broker talks of them sometimes. Positive, but mostly because they make it easier for him to talk with that Zuka he adores so much. Why he’s so attached to that inphernal, despite the feeling not being mutual? She’s clueless.]

Summary
Tripwire breaks into Slingshot’s room at one am, wishing him a happy spawnday (they were late so Vine and Shuri could do it first) and taking him to come do things with them. They take him to see fireflies, parkour to the top of a really tall building to look down upon everything, and get into a kissing contest up there (how they don't realize he's into them is beyond ME). ‘Freefall’ refers to how Slingshot’s heart is in freefall the whole time. They see kitties after :). When that’s all said and done, they get fast food because it’s all that’s open at like 3 am lmfao.
Oh, and Slingshot shoots his shot. Ha. Get it. His. His shot. Because he's. He's SlingSHOT.
Sneak Peak: [Well, this is unexpected. Tripwire blinks a few times, trying to puzzle out if there’s any obvious hints that they missed. They… can’t remember, honestly. “That… doesn’t seem like a fair exchange for a burger, Slingshot.”]

Summary
Shuriken and his partner, Tripwire have a relaxing night in bed, after a day of doing things or whatever. Except Tripwire wants to go crazy with it and let him hold their gear. And learn how to use it. And they have a timer set for midnight, to be the first one to wish him a happy spawnday. Oh, and they have actual presents for him. The gear thing is unrelated, technically.
Obviously, it's one of the best nights of his life. Even if he's spending most of it crying.
| Written over the course of four days (I got back into Phighting!, discovered it was his SPAWNDAY IN FOUR DAYS?! and crunched), about two hours each night, during an emotionally rough time for me. Published on Shuriken's spawnday(?), though it's dubious since the lore change. Which gets a shoddy, brief explanation in the fic. |
