Skizz took a deep breath as he stood on the stands. He hadn’t expected to ever be back here. Something about the way the wind blew through his hair and the crowd’s cheering surrounded him.
Joel was on his left, while Cleo was on his right which was reassuring. People he knew, and that had his back.
“You ready, Etho?” Skizz said looking over the grid. Etho had done well in qualifying yesterday leaving him with a P3 start. Scar was directly in front of him with a P1, and Lizzie had a P2 which put her front row to the right. On Etho’s left was Jimmy. Jimmy in Baxter had become a fierce team since Jimmy really found his groove driving.
“Ready, Skizz. Are you?” Etho cleared his throat.
Skizz grinned. “Ready for you to beat Scar. He’s going to be the hardest point competition throughout the year so an early lead now would be great.”
“I’ll do my best Skizz.”
Before Skizz had a chance to respond, he could see the lights start to drop. Taking the cue, he shut his mouth as the engines roared in anticipation.

Jimmy glanced at Grian and then Budbs, but neither of them had the telling look of it being a prank of their doing.
“I am the Watcher, and I have the singular demand of Evo to cancel the championship race this year. Now, should they refuse to do that, there will be consequences,” the voice snarled before a click in the microphone.
Jimmy froze and watched as the nervous glances jumped over the fellow racers.
They all knew what that was…
It was a threat.

The shadowy figure was dripping wet, dark wingtips dragging along the grass from exhaustion as they approached. He wore an eyepatch—just a rough, bloody strip of fabric tied around his head and matted into damp, muddy curls.
The red sweater was ripped and stained with a brown substance, the wings tattered with broken white feathers sticking out at odd angles.
Scar felt his mouth go dry and his insides tense in fear. “G… Grian?” What was wrong with him?
The figure took another step forward before latching onto the front of Scar’s shirt with dirty fingers. His remaining, red-tinted eye looked deep into Scar’s, like it was trying to see his soul.
“You’re not my Scar, are you?” He said.

After Rapunzel turns down his request for help, Varian returns to Old Corona only to find his father petrified in amber. Devastated, he vows to find a solution himself at the risk of his own health, having already taken ill from the raging blizzard outside. He overworks himself into collapse and is subsequently found by Rapunzel, Eugene and Cassandra, who decide to make things right by looking after him, even with tensions running high between them.
In other words: AU where Varian doesn't go 0-100 and become a villain, and the force of logic is (somewhat) observed because there's no way he ran around in a blizzard by himself and didn't come back at least a little sniffly.
