Summary
In his sixth year, Draco reaches for the only shard of sanity he can find, and puts his desperate faith into magic, the thing that has always set him apart as a pureblood wizard. The magic he unleashes though, is old, powerful, and maybe even more desperate than Draco himself, to leave an essence of life behind.

Summary
Draco Malfoy is broke, the Manor being converted into a war museum, and he’s on probation, forced to work a menial job filing at the Ministry to meet the terms of a stayed sentence to Azkaban. After someone burns down his apartment with what little he has been left including his wand, Potter offers him sanctuary, but Grimmauld Place is so horrifying Draco feels obligated to try to repair at least enough of it to keep it from falling in on them both. This is a story about war trauma and wizarding home renovation.
EDIT: I have added a few bits here and there to help show the relationship develop a bit more; nothing that changes the plot, but if you are coming back to this you may notice some minor changes and a small increase in word count.

Feb 29th is an Irish muggle tradition that he'll happily jump on. Archie (boyfriend) is in Ireland - he'll simply portkey over and pop the question.
One (LARGE) problem. The portkey office messed up and he's landed outside Harry Potter's pub.
The same Harry Potter that hasn't been seen for ten years.
