Dick was going in and out of consciousness and had been for a while; he saw flashes of concrete slabs, rebar, and other building parts. He gritted his teeth, blinking repeatedly to try and clear his view. Someone was yelling. He coughed. “Argh.” Dick forced his eyes to stay open and tried to look at his surroundings.

Dick froze for a second time. “What?” He choked out, turning to look at the phone slowly, as if the screen would have all the answers. Or disappear right in front of his eyes. Or maybe some dimensional nymph would pop out and start laughing at him- it wouldn’t be the first time.
“He’s here! He says you still owe him a backflip lesson.” There was so much happiness and relief in Bruce’s voice that Dick nearly choked on it.
Because Jason Todd was dead.
