"There's something green on your elbow," Velvette pointed out without looking up from her phone. The neckline of her designer blouse was pulled up over the lower half of her face.
"Whose side are you on?" Angel tried to hiss.
"Honestly? Not yours. You're gonna get me sick, and I've got shit to do this week."
Angel opened his mouth to answer, but his eyes widened, and he looked at Husk to whisper, "Help?"
Husk lifted Angel out of the chair. "Apologies, everybody. Please, continue. We would appreciate those minutes, if anyone can drop them off sometime this week."
Zestial nodded once. "I will send one of my minions to bring thee thy minutes. Prithee, take the pox away from here."
"I am not fuckin' poxxed," Angel scoffed, coughing into Husk's shoulder with a whine.

Summary
Husk was about ready to start ripping out his fur in worry when he had to dive across the bar to answer the call. He spared Angel’s name the barest glance before he cradled the phone to his ear.
“Angel?”
There was silence for a few seconds, then some quiet shuffling. Husk wondered briefly if he’d accidentally dialled out on his way back or something. But then he heard a barely audible whimper and felt his heart fall into his stomach. It sounded pained. Scared. Clearly Angel, but not a sound that he’d ever heard him make before no matter how beaten up he was.
He waited a few more beats, heard another shuddering breath, and tightened his grip on the phone so much he heard it creak.
“Angel, baby. I’m gonna need you to say something.”
For another terrible second there was still no response, though he heard what sounded like a body hitting the ground. He wasn’t sure whether the broken laugh that came down the phone next was reassuring or sickening.
“Sorry, Whiskers. I’ve just…” Angel cut himself off with a spatter of painful sounding coughs, “I’ve uh…had a bad night.”
