Silence rose, daunting and somehow more extreme than the flame curving along with it. The situation almost felt like the ghosts were biding their time, counting seconds. Strange, as nothing seemed to press down on them for that reaction. As soon as Simon began to get impatient, however,
“What about other scars?”
Or: Simon's my absolute favorite guy so I'm making a fake season 3 right before real season 3 comes out where Simon gets to know all of the ghosts (and they all help him through the insane amount of emotional blockage he's got going on). Fluff, sillyness, and a lot of hurt comfort.

Episode 3 in my attempt at writing School Spirits Season 3. If you haven't read my previous works "DEADER THAN EVER" and "HOW TO GET AWAY WITH DYING" you might be missing quite a bit of context.
This one’s packed. We’re peeling back more layers; Arden, Janet, and of course, our lovely protagonist Maddie Nears. Sandra’s arc deepens, Maddie and the gang start connecting more dots, and things are slowly, very slowly, starting to make sense. Maybe. Sort of. There’s lightbulbs flickering, secrets surfacing, and some doors cracking open (or slamming shut). And a whole big Mina feature! Let’s get into it.

“I don’t know, maybe?” She whirls back around to stop the door from fully closing. “It’s actually Madison, if you care.” She doesn’t know why he would, but she wants him to know her correct full name. For some reason.
He grins, as if they’re both in on a joke. “Right, Madison. And I’m Jeff, short for Jefferson.”
She squints. “Huh?”
Wally backpedals, flustered. “Sorry, I thought you were joking around, ‘cause Madison is like, a last name.”

He watches his heart, his hope, fly in an arc from behind his ribs and right into Mr. Martin’s fidgeting hands. “There’s a chance,” he continues, “that somewhere, out in the great elsewhere or... whatever, there’s a universe where...” The rest of it clots in his throat. “... where Maddie and I can be together?”
(Or: Mr. Martin discovers an access point to the multiverse in the school. Somewhere out there exists a version of Maddie Nears and Wally Clark who get to grow up and grow old together. And they’re going to find it, even if it kills them. Again.)
