    “So often she sings my praises, I imagine she’s wont every now and then to weigh up my faults with someone who knows them well.”
    Stephen hummed noncommittally.
    “She sees nearly as much of you as she sees of me, I’ll wager,” Jack continued.
    “Surely not,” Stephen answered, and when he realized the accidental meaning behind his words, they both fell silent.

    Or: when Jack entertains a guest at their apartments, he hangs a hat on the door to warn Stephen away. Despite this, Stephen ends up catching an eyeful.
