Shane scratched the back of his neck. “Rose, uh… she figured it out. Us. Our history. All of it.”
Ilya turned his head slowly, disbelieving. “Figured it out?”
“To be fair, you and I weren’t exactly subtle in Montreal,” Shane said, sheepishly.
Ilya huffed, scowling.
“So, she knows.” He swallowed. “Everything?”
“I mean, not all the gory details,” Shane said, shrugging. “But enough.”
There was a pause long enough for the surf to swell and retreat twice.
“And? What?” Ilya asked finally, jaw tight. “She is… disgusted?”
Shane actually snorted. “Uh. No.”
“No?”
“No,” Shane said again, dragging a hand down his face. Then, half-laughing, “She, um. She thinks it’s fucking hot.”

Or, in essence, what if Rose clocks Shane and Ilya in Montreal, she's like, I want two boyfriends and I want the boyfriends to be boyfriends, too. God gave me two hands for a reason.

Summary
Shane is finally honest with himself and brave enough to tell Ilya how he feels in Tampa. Then he gets a call from Rose that rewrites everything he thought was possible for him and Ilya.
--“I get that Rose, I really do, but at this point I’m just going to worry about you and all the things it could be and drive myself crazy. Can you just say it, please? I know that’s probably not fair to ask, but I'm asking.”
Rose let out a dry chuckle. “I should have known you would get me to spit it out. You’re alone, right? Sitting down?” her voice sounded almost dead.
“Um, yeah, hold on.” Shane at some point had gotten up and started pacing. He sat back down on the hotel bed. He heard Rose take a deep breath, and he held himself perfectly still.
“Shane, well… fuck, there’s really no way around just saying it, is there? Okay. Fuck."
Shane didn't move. Didn't breathe.
"I’m pregnant.”

Or: AU where Shane gets Rose pregnant in Episode 4 and she keeps the baby. Miscommunication trope ensues. Shane and Ilya have a ticking clock to sort their shit out.
*This is not a poly endgame. Shane and Ilya are still made for only each other in this universe.

Summary
Shane rocked on his feet a bit in anticipation, glancing forward at the coach, then at the door when it opened a bit roughly.
A guy his age with messy curly blonde hair and an athletic build came in, a crucifix dangling from his neck.
“Hi, sorry- wasn’t sure which room.” The rather attractive guy (not that Shane would admit it) spoke in broken English and a thick Russian accent, Shane felt bad, he wouldn’t know what to do with himself if he was in a place where he barely knew how to communicate and he didn’t have his parents.
That seems so lonely.
He held out a hand. “I’m Shane Hollander.” The Russian took his hand firmly and shook it. “Ilya Rozanov. Nice to meet you.” He said like he’d been rehearsing tha sentence. He had.
OR
Alternate universe where Shane and Ilya are in high school and Ilya moves to Canada and joins Shane’s hockey team. Without meaning to, they fall in love. It’s messy.
