Remus grabbed his face, hands cold against his cheeks but Sirius couldn't really find it in him to mind. "Happy New Year, love."
With that, Sirius was gently tugged towards Remus, meeting the other in a sweet sort of kiss that made everything melt away for a minute. And you know what? It was entirely as sappy and stupid as you would imagine it to be. Fireworks went off in the distance and lit up the sky and inside, Sirius could hear cheers from his friends but right then, in that moment, he was rather preoccupied by Remus. It was stupid, and it was sweet, and if you asked him, it was the perfect way to end a year, and start a new one.
Or
Sirius is waiting in suspense, and in doubt that a new year's tradition will be carried through this year. But really, he never had to worry at all.
