    Summary

    trillium
    noun
    tril·li·um ˈtri-lē-əm
: any of a genus (Trillium of the family Melanthiaceae) of herbs with an erect stem bearing a whorl of three leaves and a solitary typically spring-blooming flower.

It had been worth it, to repay the life debt he owed to Regis, after all this time. It was as good of a death as any witcher could ask for, dying for a friend, something more perhaps, but he would never know now.

Shaking hands brushed his cheeks, and the sound of choked sobs and voices cut through the haze in Geralt’s mind, but he still struggled through his ruined throat for breath, unable to speak for himself.

“He is not human, Regis, his blood is strong enough.” Dettlaff. Geralt gasped again for breath, and the cool hand came to rest at his cheek, clawed fingers trembling like never before.

“He is human enough,” Regis hissed, “there is no way to know if—”

Dettlaff cut Regis off with a harsh scoff, “There was no way to know that he would be so idiotic as to sacrifice himself for a being that all but cannot die either.” Regis growled lowly, but Dettlaff continued, utterly unfazed, “Would you let him die for you, Regis, when you and I both know that you, too, will die with him?”

    Summary

“Well, you didn't think that all it gives me are painful visions and hallucinations, did you?” Hallorann snorted, but he couldn't manage a smile. The claw was still hovering over his pulse.
For a moment, there was complete silence. The only sound was the rush of blood in his ears. As if having made up its mind, It blinked, smiling at him again.
“Didn't think,” It murmured after him, almost dreamily, then loosened its grip on his neck, pulling its claws back. The hand on his chest also stopped its relentless pressure, so Hallorann finally took a deep breath, involuntarily glancing at the clown on his hips. "And what else can you do, i wonder, mm? You know, Dickie, you're the first human with, as you call it, a shining, that I've gotten my hands on..."
It moved again, like excited cats can fidget in place when their owner waves a fluffy toy in front of their eyes. Hallorann clenched his teeth. He didn't like the warmth that movement sent through his body.
“Maybe I'll stay a little longer, just to play with you.”

    Summary

Some’thing’ that shouldn't have wanted me.

    And some’thing’ I shouldn't have wanted.

Moving back to your mother’s childhood home isn’t all that bad. No, now you finally get to live a normal, peaceful life in a small town, where the quiet streets promise a chance to free your mind from every torment that once clung to it.

You have never quite allowed your own mind to wander beyond what is ordinary. You have never truly wanted to believe in anything that might make you question what you know.

You are a logical person. Painfully, stubbornly logical and your heart has always remained in the right place—somewhere that should never make you question what you ‘feel’, or where it was always meant to be.

You refuse to let any of that change.

But anything can be changed if fate has already decided so.

When the story has already been written and the ink has long since dried, no amount of logic, doubt, or defiance can erase what was always meant to happen—

or stop your heart from wanting what fate had already chosen.

    Those are simply the rules.

And we were never meant to break them.
