Summary
Following his expulsion from the Akademiya, Zandik was thrown in the desert with nothing but the clothes on his back. The desert was merciless, stretching endlessly as its unbearable heat could only be matched by the dangers concealed beneath its golden sands. Survival became a battle where he couldn't even guarantee absolute victory.
That was until he came across an abandoned puppet buried deep near some ruins. The puppet was deceptively strong and fair-faced, which made him a useful companion in enduring the desert's cruelty. The puppet too lacked a heart which added fuel to the fire that was Zandik's burning interest in him.
Zandik promised the puppet a heart. In exchange, he asked for a price that the puppet had yet to realize was far too heavy to pay.
Or, Zandik encountered an unassuming puppet in the desert.

So next time, you’re not surprised. And the time after that, when I do this,” the hand moves again, all the way up to Kabu’s hip. He watches goosebumps forming on his thigh. “You’re not nervous anymore. I’ve conditioned you to expect it, and to think nothing of it.”

Jongwoo tried to will his heart to stop racing. He was already all-in on this stupid scheme; there was no backing out now. “I still haven’t been in Seoul very long so I don’t know that many bars, but I thought you might know some places.” Jongwoo’s mouth was dry. “Maybe a good place for two men to get a drink and get to know each other better?”
If Jongwoo’s delivery was too awkward, it didn’t show on Moonjo’s face. “Ah, so you haven’t been to a place like that yet,” Moonjo said. “Sure, I can take you. I wasn’t sure if you were interested.”
(Or: Seokyoon comes up with the idea that Jongwoo should go out for a drink with Moonjo in order to learn more about what's going on at Eden. Jongwoo actually goes through with it. From there, things escalate in ways that none of them, including Moonjo, expected.)
