The redhead hissed as he shifted his weight, legs trembling. He tried a step. One more. Then fell. Shoto caught him before he could hit the floor, hating the pained sound that the former hero choked back. "...Alright, I think we need to take a break," Shoto soothed.
His father didn't say anything, letting his son half guide, half carry him to the elevated table. He let his back fall to the padded surface. He didn't look at his son, shame clear on his face. "... The physical therapist said my core strength is weak," he admitted, left arm subconsciously reaching over to grab the injury on his right side. AFO had really done a number on him; that dent on his waist was visible, even through his clothes. "That's why I can't stabilize enough to get off the crutches." Shoto nodded, recalling the therapist's notes-- something about 'engaging the lower abdominal muscles without straining the legs'.
A thought flickered at the edge of his memory. Fuyumi's room. That odd device she'd shoved under the bed.
Shoto stood, wiping his hands on his thighs. "Wait here."
Shoto helps his father out with his physical recovery. Unfortunately, neither one of them knows what a vibrator is.

Rudo’s face burns. “Put me down!” he yells, feet dangling uselessly, kicking at nothing.
Tamsy exhales. “Rudo,” he says, almost gently, like he’s soothing a whining child, “you’re going to hurt someone. That’s not our job.”
Rudo hates that tone more than the rope. It crawls under his skin, makes him feel small and stupid and loud in the worst way. Like he’s the only one making a scene and embarrassing himself.
“Oh, screw you,” Rudo spits. “How would you like it if I tied you up, huh?”
Tamsy tilts his head, considering it far too seriously.
“I guess,” he says mildly, “you’d have to figure out a way to do that first. Then we could find out.”

A boy in his pajamas with long blond and blue hair picked up Rudo's phone, which had ended up face down on the staircase landing. He waved at him, his big yellow eyes marred by a faded burn mark.
“Hello there. New resident?” The boy asked, climbing the stairs two steps at a time with a big smile plastered on his face. Rudo's face grew hot with embarrassment.
Regto had advised him not to talk to strangers but this boy, although clearly older, didn't seem the least bit menacing. Plus they were probably neighbors, seeing as they lived in the same apartment complex and all.

Some of the other cleaners were very handsy people, physical touch being the main mode they expressed their affection. But of course, for the vast majority of humans, physical touch was one of the most significant ways of receiving affection; some just gave it out more than others. So, someone who was not a handsy person still needed physical touch as it was a reliable way of acquiring the necessary happy hormones to thrive. See? Simple. All he had to do was become closer to Rudo on a personal level and introduce subtle touches that, over time, began to mean more.
