The reality crashes onto Ethan like cold water tossing into his face. He halts just as revulsion curls into his gut at the thought of Mia being escorted by the B.S.A.A. everywhere, Rose being put through some kind of sick therapy to contain her powers, and them being just as ostracized from society for an incident they did not ask for. Every little micro-aggression for a little unfairness in life will put the government on edge and quarantine them for further surveillance, like evaluating criminals with no sense of control.
They were all ticking-bombs, and just reducing their little family by one did not make a damn difference to the world.
“... What the fuck was I supposed to do then?”
“I think you already know the answer to that one, Ethan,” the Mold whispers.
Or: After dying from the explosion, Ethan Winters gets a third chance at life to go back into time, end things with a Root to create a safer future for his family, and sort out his issues with a certain Lord.

"I won't." Ethan assures him. "I'm with you."
His attachment to this man feels pathetic, maybe, but inevitable. For Heisenberg, each loop means Ethan is a stranger again. For Ethan, Heisenberg has become a friend. He is well aware his attachment can only ever be one-sided, yet he would not change anything. Heisenberg is free from reliving his own death. Ethan has gained a companion. He may very well be the last thing holding the tatters of Ethan's sanity together.
"Of course you are, idiot." Heisenberg says. He looks over at Ethan, checks him over with a glance. Ethan must sound truly pathetic if Heisenberg is concerned. "We already shook on it and everything."

Summary

Ethan takes the deal, although with a few ultimatums of his own. After the chaos and the blast Ethan is now left with a new life, dead to the world along with Rose and struggling to make life and sanity work.
Heisenberg realises he has much more to learn before stepping out into the modern world, a task he puts in a reluctant Ethan's hands. Doesn't help that the American just keeps getting more and more interesting.
Trust is a rare commodity but one they must learn to share as one becomes more monster and the other more human.
