Summary
Scott has been drafted to fight in the war between the red and blue kingdoms, forced to leave his father in barrowhill to work as a mage for blue kingdom or risk actions being taken against his father and himself.
He doesn’t truly understand why the two kingdoms are at war or seem to hate eachother, despite being a mage for the blue kingdom (though he doesn’t see himself as much of a good one) the red kingdom members have been very kind to him.
But ever since he had mentioned to Princess Cherri that he was forced to join blue kingdom and the war, neither kingdom seem very willing to let him leave their walls.
How odd.
(Title is from the song “the fool” by Alexandria, which I listened to while writing the first chapter!)

Summary
Scott makes a deal with the Creaking king in order to free Nom, because what else can he do? The deal turns him into one of the Creaking king's citizens, more specifically, a creaking heart. Whose? He has no idea. Things get even more confusing when he's hit by these random spells of impulsivity, causing him to act as a sort of evil force. It doesn't matter to Scott how understanding everyone is of how he just can't control it, he still feels terrible. Everything keeps getting more and more chaotic around him.
For Goddess's sake he just wanted to be a florist!

Cold, fast, and merciless, it drags him under before he can think, before he can breathe, before he can do anything but panic. The current steals his strength, the water his air, until there’s only his burning lungs and the desperate certainty that he isn’t going to make it back to the surface.
He uses his last breath to call out for help.
