Takes place a few years before the "gem snub" scene shown in flashback in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey extended edition. Inspired by "first meeting" drawings by Kaciart (links to art within story), and a Desolation Of Smaug Thorin/Thranduil story (now complete), Axe And Flame.
