"Alright, listen up," the apparent leader says, left hand on his hip and the other aiming the gun at the ceiling casually. "One of you little maggots stole something from me, and I want it back." His eyes sweep the room but when he gets nothing except uneasy shuffling and sniffling he loses whatever composure he had. "The energy core! It went missing from our warehouse and we tracked it here. I know it's here, you little shits, so cough it up or I'm going to start playing eenie meenie miney moe with your little friends." Still nothing. He points the gun at the kids in the bleachers, prompting screams and kids ducking down as best they can, as he slowly turns in a circle to encompass the whole room. "Big! Shiny! Purple! The energy core! Now!" He quivers with rage.

Through the murmuring of his classmates, he heard it. The sounds of faint shouting met his ears. He couldn’t make out the words, but there was something about the tone, about the urgency in the screams that followed that had his blood turning to ice in his veins.
His mind started to race.
Every single news headline he had seen in his entire life came crashing into him all at once, knocking the breath out of his lungs like a physical blow.
School shootings weren’t uncommon. He knew the statistics. Peter just never thought that it would happen at Midtown. It seemed like it was impossible. He, for a brief second, prayed for the first time in his life that maybe -- God maybe -- he was wrong and just reading too much into things. It was possible. He was anxious by nature and tended to assume the worst of situations when his senses-

Whilst dining with the Sheikah, Link drinks a poison intended for Zelda, who can only watch as her appointed knight is burned from the inside out.

Sometime between Link’s endless trips to rid of all the monsters Ganon had so kindly created, Zelda had insisted she come along on one. She badgered him about a, “buddy system,” and he’d argued that there’d been no, “buddy system,” for the entire stretch of time after his awakening, but she’d been adamant about accompanying him on his trip to the Great Plateau. Link didn’t want to endanger her, but he also knew that arguing with Zelda after she’d put her mind to something was a fruitless endeavor, so he’d simply sighed and nodded. Zelda had looked beyond relieved for a beat before she covered it up with a curt, satisfied nod.
If Link didn’t know any better, he’d say Zelda was worried about him.
And maybe she had a right to be, Link thought, as he felt a club made of bone thwack his temple with so much force he was knocked off the edge of the snowy cliff. Maybe, Link mused as he felt icy cold water hit his back and swallow him whole, Zelda’s voice screaming his name from a distance. Just maybe, this whole, “buddy system,” thing would be of use.

Link was 17 when he "stole" the Master Sword. Now, he has been labeled a fugitive and left with nothing. Seeking some more information on his supposed partner against the Calamity (and maybe a little revenge against the king that declared him a fugitive), Link launches a series of heists on Hyrule Castle. These quickly spiral as his curiosity about Princess Zelda becomes something more, dragging both of them into an unpredictable series of adventures.
There will be angst, there will be Rhoam Shade, there will be koroks helping with heists, and by Hylia there will be Zelink.
