The sudden exclamation from Fjord took Jester by surprise. She turned in his direction, and spotted the half-orc being pushed to the deck only to quickly be pulled to his feet and held by a burly fellow. Jester realized at a glance who this guy was.
Eyes tinted a serpentine gold, much like Fjord’s. A barnacled cutlass — the telltale sign of any of the snea snake’s “chosen” — digging into Fjord’s throat as “gently” as possible without slitting it. And of course, a tattoo on his exposed bicep of a familiar yellow eye that also adorns the aforementioned cutlass.

The others accept them, and when he’s pulled into a hug he allows the gentle press of the pink one’s hand upon his shoulder, his deep “I am Caduceus Clay,” shivering through Molly, who nods in recognition.
“Empty,” he says, because it is what it is. The other one, the purple one, says nothing, but he and the magician stand close by and watch him, eyes soft.

“Home sweet home!” Jester sang, kicking her prismatic boots together in an excited skip, a stark contrast to all the students saying their goodbyes to tearful mothers and peacocking fathers holding back emotion with firm handshakes. Once inside, Beau turned to Caleb extending her own hand in a mocking performance.
“Ah yes young Timmy, learn from the patriarchy as I did. Make sure to bottle up all your feelings so that one day you’ll turn into a nightmare of a person.” She deepened her voice and placed the index finger of her free hand over her upper lip as a spontaneous mustache. “Like dude, hug your kid. It’s fine!” He took her hand to return the shake, laughing despite himself as they continued pushing through the cramped hallways to retrieve his keys from front desk.
“Well, das ist meins. Have you two already found your room?” At Jester’s excited nod, he turned once more to face the door and pushed into the ground floor dormitory, silently pleading with any deity that would listen for someone at least a little normal.

“Literally never wanted to jump someone’s bones so much for talking about onions,” Beau says, but just grins and grabs a meatball. She groans loudly as she takes a bite.
The best part of cooking is always Beau’s face.
