After the incident at USJ the Hero Public Safety Commission is concerned about the security of UA. With All Might still a target and a member of the staff they offer to add another hero to their roster to boost their security as well as appease the public.
Hawks does not want this job. He has many other jobs that need doing.
The kids are kind of cool though. They make him laugh.In which Hawks unwillingly adopts children by the bucket loads and learns some things about himself in turn.

"It would be simple!" Venti crowed, on his seventh drink already.
Diluc ignored him with the ease of practice.
"You're so easy to tease, Master Diluc." Venti snickered, his chin leaning precariously on the rim of his large drink. "If you want to get under his skin you have to do something he'd never expect!"
Diluc rolled his eyes. "And what," he turned, entertaining the drunken bard out of boredom for a slow night than any actual desire for advice, "exactly, would that be?"
"Well," Venti tapped a finger to his cheek, smirking in a distinctly conniving way, "if he always expects you to get angry and be mean, why don't you just do the opposite?"
Diluc frowned. "You want me to be nice to him."
"I want you to learn something," Venti said, sober and grim. His smile was gone long enough to be noticeable before it reappeared and the pressure of an Archon's gaze lifted from Diluc's shoulders. "Besides, aren't you tired of Kaeya always getting the last laugh? Just try it once, and if Kaeya still leaves with victory in his step then I shall forsake my own victory spoils for a whole week!"
Diluc frowned at the glass in his hands.
"Make it two."

Summary
In his time as a witcher, Geralt has killed just about everything that can be killed: monsters, beasts, constructs, men, even the undead can die again if you know the trick to it. Their unfair fate spawns in them a jealousy and hatred of everything living that quickly drives them mad and makes them dangerous and deadly, driven to torment those responsible for their plight. Usually he feels no more than a twinge of pity as he sends them off again with silver and fire, but then again usually they aren’t haunting him. Usually they aren’t Jaskier.
Geralt learns that Jaskier never made it off the mountain after the dragon hunt and, if that’s what it takes to appease the monster that now wears his face, neither will Geralt.
