You've been...wondering. There are rumors in the village and bloody clues in dark corners- but that's just wishful thinking. You changed your name, cut your hair, and work in a foreign bookshop under the guise of a boy, one of many lies you've woven to keep yourself safe in this oddly familiar world. You're probably better off wondering. It would be pretty bad to have been reincarnated into Demon Slayer, right?

    Summary

The world is at war. Across Europe, cities burn, soldiers drown in mud, and the sky itself chokes on poison. When word reaches Muzan Kibutsuji of a conflict so vast it drowns entire nations in blood, he sends his most ancient servant, Kokushibō, to witness it firsthand. His order is simple: "Learn from them. See how cruel humanity has become."

Walking among the ruins of France, Kokushibō becomes a ghost among men who need no demons to slaughter one another. Machine guns roar where swords once clashed, and the honor he once revered as a samurai lies buried beneath endless trenches. But amid the ruin and gas, Kokushibō encounters something he thought long vanished — a lone Demon Slayer, breathing mist into poisoned air, still fighting to preserve what the war seeks to erase.

As the Great War grinds toward its eleventh-hour silence, Kokushibō must confront a truth he has denied for centuries: that the line between man and monster has never been drawn in blood, but in mercy. Watching the world destroy itself, he begins to question whether demons were ever humanity's true enemy — or only its reflection.

AKA "What if Muzan remembered the fact that World War I was currently happening at this time and actually care enough to look into the bloody affairs of said war?"

...Okay, it's more like "Muzan found out that humanity are making things that could kill as many humans as an Upper Rank demon could", but the answer is still the same: he gets curious, (read: pissed off yet intrigued) and sends Kokushibo to look into it. (and also to make him get jelly that people can now just, kill each other by simply just making machines that can do so, while he had to master the blade for centuries in order to obtain that level of carnage)

It says that this is two chapters long (at the time I wrote this), but it's quite clear that this is a story that will continue.

Even if it doesn't, this is still a good two-shot! A good small look into the man-made horrors that were happening beyond the demons' home turf (that also featured another what if in the form of a certain demon slayer being enrolled into WWI) and how, to someone in the know about their existence, seeing even a single demon within that blood soaked battlefield could be a bad omen for things to come.

(EDIT/NOTE/PERSONAL RANT: After looking through the comments on the author's other works here (or to be more specific, fanfiction dot net), it seems they have a bit of a problem when dealing with, ahem, assholes (straight up, AC haters/Touhou "fans" on FF dot net must be on another freaking level of jerkass, man), in the comments; usually responding back to their bait with anger and at some point, made a few vent "fics" in relation to the bait. All the while quietly not replying to people actually giving positive comments, actual critique or telling them to just ignore the obvious assholes trying to get a rise out of them.

Now, while I haven't read any of their previous works outside of this one, it's quite clear that they're just someone who just looks at the series they like, and thought to themselves, "man, wouldn't it be cool if they somehow crossed over with each other??"

And they decided to go do that. And that's not a bad thing, in my opinion! In my eyes, fan made media is a cool place where you can just think of the craziest crossover ever that couldn't officially happen and just...make it happen with your own blood, sweat, and tears.

The fact that there are people who are ganging up on a single person who just wanted to write a crossover with their favorite series is just ridiculous. If you don't like it, then just don't bother reading it. That simple. And if you do decide to read it and not like what you'd read, just say your actual honest opinion like a NORMAL PERSON, and not just start calling the author an idiot for making something that you don't like.

And to the author if you decided to read this specific part of the bookmark review thing: please, don't give in to the obvious ragebait haters in your comments. It's clear that they do what they do to not only get a rise out of you, but also because it seems they genuinely think anything that gets touched by AC is the equivalent of poisoning the entire ocean. At the same time, responding to said hate (or worse, people who give their genuine opinion/criticism to you) with name calling, excessive cussing, or vent "fics" is absolutely not the way to go in terms of dealing with people like them. Just ignore them by saying nothing or just block them, it's that simple.

(On a related note, don't beg for comments in the comment section itself. Just put a little thing at the end of your chapter/story saying "comments/reviews are appreciated!" Even if you don't see comments, you shouldn't think that this means that people aren't looking at your work! People have other ways to show their appreciation on these sites! Also, if you have an idea for a fic, just do it! The only person who can judge on whether or not it's a good idea, outside of friends you personally know, is you and you alone.)

You should also take a major break from the internet for your own health, since it's quite clear that the comments have taken a toll on you. I hope you feel better soon if you do so! C: )
