Elyssa Blackwood (b. 117 AC) was the eldest child of Lord Samwell Blackwood and Lady Deidre Strong, born during their time in King's Landing. She was young companion to Princess Helaena until her family's departure from court in 127 AC and was also particularly close to her uncle, Lord Larys "Clubfoot" Strong. She was later betrothed to the grandson of the Lord of Riverrun, Kermit Tully. During the Dance of the Dragons, she made efforts on behalf of the Blacks to convince her betrothed's family and her mother's kin at Harrenhal to declare for Princess Rhaenyra. She was among those at Harrenhal captured when Prince Aemond took the castle. She is said to have staid his wrath against killing all of her Strong kin when the prince declared them traitors. Mushroom claims that she used dark magics to seduce Prince Aemond and then to assist him in his efforts against the Blacks, or to lead him to his doom, though there is no evidence that she was ever more than a prisoner and war prize to the prince. However, her rumored connections to the later Witch Queens of Harrenhal do make one question what happened behind castle walls during her captivity.

To her surprise, her fiancé complies, but only if she holds herself responsible for the consequences for keeping a monster at her side. Yet having the Devil Ape at her side proves to be a challenge of an entirely different matter and the need for flesh isn’t entirely what her fiancé thinks.
