He scoffs at that. “I don’t think there’s anyone else in this world who would tolerate my puns, Bug.”
She smiles, soft and weak, but it’s a smile nonetheless. “Who says I tolerate them?”
“Come on Bug, I know you love them.” He adds. “Plus I’d be paw-sitively annoyed if I had to fight alongside someone who makes puns. What if theirs is better than mine? My poor ego can’t take it.”
“Purr-ety sure it’s im-paw-sible to find someone with puns as bad as yours kitty-cat.”
How can she do that to him? Make puns and just expect for him to not want to kiss her right there and there? “Did you just pun?”
“Maybe.” She teases.
He looks at her suspiciously. And there, in the place he fell in love for the hundredth time, she gives him that look. Is she telling him something? “I always knew you found my puns hilarious, Bug.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, Chaton. I’m just practicing in case I find another cat and he’s not into puns. Someone’s gonna have to be the fun one.”
“You wouldn’t dare.” He banters.
She exhales. Her eyes roam over the city. “You’re right. I wouldn’t.”

Summary
The sunlight felt blinding when they eventually exited the copse, so much so that he squinted his eyes and almost missed the house that lay right on the edge of the forest. He opened his eyes in earnest just in time to see a man exit the woods, an axe slung over his shoulder and his eyes cast downwards at his muddy boots. Stolas instinctively turned in his seat to watch through the back window as the man wiped the hair from his face with one hand. Just before the car turned a corner and the man and his house dipped from view, he looked up sharply at the car, and his deep brown eyes met Stolas’s wide greys.
Then he was gone, and the road stretched out impossibly far between them, and suddenly the cab had reached the town.
Or, Father Stolas moves to a small town. He meets every resident during his first service; everyone, that is, save for the quiet, scarred man who lives on the outskirts of the forest.

Summary
The problem isn’t who would be there. The problem is the dinner itself.
“Dinner” had never been a particularly pleasant or peaceful affair growing up. Her dad had insisted that they sit together as a family because that was what most families did and Stolas wanted nothing more than for Via to have a normal family. For much of her childhood, it hadn’t really been an issue. She couldn’t remember what her mother was like during those dinners, only that her dad had always been smiling at her as he fed her before he ate his own meal.
“Picture perfect,” he used to say, but his smile would turn sad as he said it. As the years passed, her mother would use dinner as a chance to air out her grievances with Via’s dad; after spending much of the day avoiding each other, dinner always became a shouting match that Stella always won, Stolas being too conscious of Via’s presence to argue back, to fight back, to say anything. At one point, he had even offered to let Stella deviate from their nightly ritual since she did not enjoy it very much.
OR
Via goes to the apartment her dad shares with his new family and contemplates their relationship.

Blitzø stretches his arms above his head and looks around, taking stock of the apartment. It’s a bit cluttered, with all three of them squeezed in here – dishes in the sink from breakfast, a few pieces of clothing tossed around the living room.
Blitzø sighs to himself and rubs at his eyes. Loona starts to say something but he just puts his hand up to stop her. Stolas watches and has no idea what to do or say.
“What are you making for dinner?” is what Stolas settles on, what he figures is an innocuous question.
