    Simon's new life had been almost perfect. Food, safety, and people who, for some reason, truly cared about him. Of course, nothing good could last forever; his own personal demon has somehow wormed its way into his new reality, and he won't let it hurt anyone else.

    A Eridian scout ship finds an injured human and returns him to Erid. Doctor Ryland Grace is initially excited by the prospect of another human being! But after a catastrophically failed first encounter where Ryland tries to save this newcomer's life as the expense of any trust, they must learn relearn to trust each other.

    “If you leave,” Ryland pulled himself to his knees, “You’ll die.” He pressed his hands to his knees and stood to his full height.

    He lunged again, driving the stranger’s body into the wall. A pained roar echoed off the walls and threatened to drown out all else. A fist connecting with the side of his head. His vision blackened, vignetted at the edges. Grace screamed an answering roar of his own. Before his legs gave out, he dug in his heels, struggling against the man fighting for his life against him.

    Grace and Rocky are on their way to Erid when Grace starts having these strange dreams about a void of blood. For a while he thinks he's finally just gone crazy! The diet of nothing but Taumoeba surely has gotten to his head, right? Right? Not right. Not right at all. Ryland wakes every morning more and more confused while also hacking up FAR too much blood. More than scurvy should account for... But it all clicks when there's a submarine (yes, Rocky sees it too so he's NOT crazy this time) launched into his air lock. But what now...? Simon wants to live, but Grace isn't entirely sure if HE does. Not anymore.

    A bit of eldritch horror mixed with a whole lot of angst which ends in fluff
